morning that he would not live through the day. Before going into battle, he gave his

Pvt. James H. Ritchie of Co. E, 10th Texas Infantry was also captured, and on April
14, 1914, he testified on behalf of the Pension Application of Lt. Kincaid's widow.
Ritchie stated that Lt. Kincaid "served honorably throughout his enlistment and if
you had seen him take a federal flag from a yankee at Franklin Tenn, you would have
thought so."
