thear is a heap of talk about whear wee are a goying to but thear is no telling wear but i think that we will go sumers in misuri but i cant say. thear was ship past by the blockad and went to ingland. they fierd at thim but done nothin. i can hear canons every day. we havent got any money yet they say that they will pay us of the 29 but i cant say when. i am surly sadisfied if i can get mi helth and if i dont i will come home. i supos that johnsons redgment will be off to missouri but hear is so much fuss that we cant no any thing. I have just bin to preching heard a buly surmant.

Pvt. Elijah W. Hull - Age 23 upon enlistment as Pvt. with Co. I, 10th Texas Infantry, on January 29, 1862 at Millican, Brazos County, Texas. According to Hull descendant, Sam Hull, Pvt. Hull was born in Morgan County, Illinois, on January 17, 1839, and his father moved the family to Johnson County, Texas, around 1855.
The 10th Texas Infantry was assigned to the Trans Mississippi Department at Little Rock, Arkansas on June 8, 1862, and Pvt. Hull died of disease in that city on July 12, 1862.
Pvt. David A. Barnett - (mentioned in above letter) Enlisted with Co. I, 10th Texas Infantry, at Millican, Brazos County, Texas, on January 16, 1862. Pvt. Barnet was admitted to the hospital at Lewisburg, Arkansas, on May 21, 1862.
Pvt. Barnett was captured with the rest of the regiment, at Arkansas Post, Arkansas, on January 11, 1863; arriving at Camp Douglas Prison at near Chicago, Illinois, on January 29th. Pvt. Barnett died of "Pneumonia" in Camp Douglas on February 9, 1863.
